Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity celebrates grand opening of new Chesterfield ReStore location

RICHMOND, VA (April 1, 2018) – Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity will join supporters and eager shoppers to celebrate the grand opening of the organization’s second ReStore location on Saturday, April 28th in Chesterfield.

        Chesterfield ReStore

        1201 Mall Drive

        Richmond, VA 23235

Habitat ReStore is a home improvement store and resale center that sells donated new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances at a fraction of the retail price. Habitat for Humanity uses funds raised by its ReStores to help build, rehabilitate and repair more homes in partnership with low-income families.

“The opening of the new ReStore marks the latest step in our efforts to eliminate poverty housing in the Greater Richmond area,” said Jane Helfrich, CEO of Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity. “We thank our supporters, our ReStore shoppers and the Richmond metro community for helping to make this ReStore a huge success.”

The grand opening celebration on Saturday, April 28 will feature food trucks, entertainment, children’s activities, doorbuster prizes and special guests from Richmond’s Mix 98.1 FM radio station, from 10AM to 7PM. The new location at 1201 Mall Drive is adjacent to the Chesterfield Towne Center.

Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity will continue to operate its original ReStore location at 1901 Roane Street in Richmond’s Northside.

Habitat ReStores rely on the generous donation of new and gently used household items, building supplies and furniture to help Habitat create homeownership opportunities. To arrange a pickup of a donation, please visit RichmondHabitat.org/ReStore.

About Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1976 as a nonprofit, nonproselytizing Christian housing ministry. Since its inception, Habitat has helped build over 400,000 homes for more than 2 million people around the world. The Richmond Habitat chapter joined the affordable housing effort in 1986, serving the City of Richmond, Henrico County and Chesterfield County. Since then, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity has built more than 345 homes for deserving families, made possible in part by the operation of its nonprofit ReStore home improvement stores and donation centers. Along with our partner families, generous volunteers and donors, we have restored the hope and dignity that poverty housing often strips away.
